July 2011 prisoners across 13 prisons went on hunger strike to protest the SHU's conditions of confinement. They came together across racial lines to expose the abuse and corruption of the California Department of Corrections (CDC). We, their family and loved ones, stood right beside them and founded CFASC to advocate and be a voice for our incarcerated loved ones.

“I do remember saying No! This has to end! I’m in it for the long haul, and so I know like me as a parent, I mean it. I mean it with all my heart. And some of us mothers say, ‘Until I have breathe I’m gonna fight.’ Because we are one. Me and my son. I feel that yeah, he is part of me, and I am part of him. So whatever they are doing to him, they are doing to me.” - Anonymous CFASC mother
